Mike is a four-time Olympian and the only US skier to win national championships in all three Nordic disciplines – jumping, cross-country, and Nordic combined. At Fort Lewis College, he was named an NCAA All-American in 1968 and 1969. After competing at the 1968, 1972, 1976, and 1980 Olympics, he retired from competition and transitioned to coaching. In 1991, as the cross-country coach, he led the University of Colorado ski team to an NCAA championship.
