In 1932, with the help of Ned Grant, Thor established the Groswold Ski Company. Soon this company was recognized as the manufacturer of America’s finest wood skis. The company was responsible for supplying soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division with skis during World War II and furnished skis for the 1952 US Olympic Ski Team. He was also instrumental in the establishment of Berthoud Pass, Winter Park, and Arapahoe Basin ski areas.
